FORMULAS

Fresh - Never Frozen - Meat

Fresh, never frozen, hormone-free chicken is the number one ingredient in  NutraGold Holistic dog and cat food. We use only fresh, never frozen, hormone-free chicken as the base of our formulas to provide a more satisfying, healthier, wholesome meal for your pet.   When manufacturers obtain their chicken in frozen form it requires longer (and typically higher temperature) cooking during processing and robs the final food of flavour, and nutrients. Additionally, we slow-cook NutraGold Holistic dog and cat food to lock-in all the natural goodness and flavor. The end result is a petfood that dogs and cats like to eat - and we can prove it. Independant palatability studies, show NutraGold Holistic consistently out performs other leading petfood brands.

Controlled Levels of Ash

NutraGold Holistic formulas are formulated with lower amounts of ash and phosphorus to promote healthy kidney function. Ash is the non-combustible portion of a pets diet and is primarily calcium, phosphorus, and other minerals. High levels of ash have an adverse effect on both palatability and digestibility—and for adults, high levels of ash may be a health concern. So, when ash levels decrease, palatability and digestibility increase—as well as health benefits.

Omega 6/Omega 3 Management System

Omega-6 and Omega-3 are fatty acids important to proper health. While all pet foods contain the essential fatty acid Omega-6 (linoleic), many do not have the levels of Omega-3 (linolenic) fatty acids required to maintain a proper fatty acid ratio. Every NutraGold Holistic formula is supplemented  with flaxseed to ensure the correct Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acid ratio between 5:1 and 10:1. Research indicates a diet with the correct fatty acid ratio may contribute to numerous health benefits: • Improved Skin and Coat Condition • Control of Inflammation of skin, joints, and digestive system. • Improved Health for dogs and cats with compromised kidney or heart function. • Decreased Risk of certain types of cancer. • Improved Overall Health.

Joint Management System

The cartilage found within joints is designed to not only absorb shock but also act as a smooth gliding surface. Therefore, it’s important to keep joint cartilage healthy for pain-free mobility.  The body naturally produces Glucosamine and Chondroitin in small amounts to help maintain, repair, and inhibit destruction of joint cartilage. Several NutraGold Holistic formulas contain Glucosamine and Chondroitin to help the body maintain healthy, pain-free joints. All of our Adult Dog lines and Healthy Weight Adult Cat contain 300mg/kg Glucosamine and 100mg/kg Chondroitin. Our  Senior Dog, Large Breed Adult Dog  and Senior Adult Cat Formulas contain 1200mg/kg Glucosamine and 400mg/kg Chondroitin - the most beneficial of any major pet food manufacturer in New Zealand.
